Ngày 10/2, tại Trường PTDTBT THCS Cổ Linh (huyện Pác Nặm, tỉnh Bắc Kạn), Bộ trưởng Bộ GD-ĐT Phạm Vũ Luận trao quà cho giáo viên, học sinh có hoàn cảnh khó khăn của các tỉnh Bắc Kạn, Lào Cai, Yên Bái và Điện Biên.
Cũng trong ngày, Bộ trưởng Phạm Vũ Luận trao tặng tượng trưng 20 tấn gạo cho học sinh ở các vùng khó khăn các tỉnh Bắc Kạn, Lào Cai, Yên Bái và Điện Biên, mỗi tỉnh 5 tấn.

Ông Lê Lâm, hiệu trưởng Trường CĐ Đại Việt Sài Gòn liệt kê một loạt các thông số trong năm qua như chỉ tiêu tuyển sinh 1800, lượng thí sinh đăng kí dự thi 300 em, lượng sinh viên nhập học 100 em, trường có hơn 100 cán bộ giảng viên rồi buông “thế này là biết tình hình như thế nào".

Mới đây, nữ đạo diễn Hoàng Điệp bỗng dưng được người yêu phim trong nước và ngoài nước biết đến nhờ giành được một loạt giải thưởng quốc tế cho bộ phim Đập cánh giữa không trung. Bộ phim giành được giải phim đầu tay hay nhất ở LHP Venice và giải của ban giám khảo trong liên hoan phim Nantes mới đây. Thành công của chị khiến người ta bắt đầu để ý hơn tới những phụ nữ trẻ làm phim.

South Korea’s Constitutional Court on Thursday struck down a 62-year-old law that made adultery an offense punishable by up to two years in prison, citing the country’s changing sexual mores and a growing emphasis on individual rights.
“It has become difficult to say that there is a consensus on whether adultery should be punished as a criminal offense,” five of the court’s nine justices said in a joint opinion. “It should be left to the free will and love of people to decide whether to maintain marriage, and the matter should not be externally forced through a criminal code.”

We have heard a lot lately about how UK universities have a problem with sexual violence. Nicole Westmarland, writing in the Telegraph, cited a YouthSight poll which found that one in three female students had experienced sexual assault or unwanted advances, and described institutional inaction as a “national embarrassment”.

As mothers of young girls, we see this phenomenon and fret over the implications. Early puberty can lead to eating disorders, depression, substance abuse, early sexual activity and, later in life, breast cancer. But as doctors, we wince at misleading stories that blame substances that are not likely to bear the primary responsibility — hormones in our meat or soy in our diets, for instance. The real culprits include two problems that are often overlooked:obesity and family stress.

This is the sad reality in workplaces around the world: Women help more but benefit less from it. In keeping with deeply held gender stereotypes, we expect men to be ambitious and results-oriented, and women to be nurturing and communal. When a man offers to help, we shower him with praise and rewards. But when a woman helps, we feel less indebted. The reverse is also true. When a woman declines to help a colleague, people like her less and her career suffers. But when a man says no, he faces no backlash. A man who doesn’t help is “busy”; a woman is “selfish.”

We know that women are underrepresented in math and science jobs. What we don’t know is why it happens.
There are various theories, and many of them focus on childhood. Parents and toy-makers discourage girls from studying math and science. So do their teachers. Girls lack role models in those fields, and grow up believing they wouldn’t do well in them.

Male professors are brilliant, awesome and knowledgeable. Women are bossy and annoying, and beautiful or ugly.
These are a few of the results from a new interactive chartthat was gaining notice on social media Friday. Benjamin Schmidt, a Northeastern University history professor, says he built the chart using data from 14 million student reviews on the Rate My Professors site. It allows you to search for any word to see how often it appeared in reviews and how it broke down by gender and department.
