Sau phiên họp lần thứ 9 của Uỷ ban liên Chính phủ về bảo vệ di sản văn hoá phi vật thể của UNESCO diễn ra tại Paris (Pháp) - Dân ca Ví, Giặm Nghệ Tĩnh chính thức được UNESCO công nhận là di sản văn hoá phi vật thể đại diện của nhân loại.

Các hiện vật được trưng bày được chia theo các loại hình tiêu biểu như trống đồng, công cụ lao động, đồ dùng sinh hoạt, vũ khí, nhạc khí, trang sức, đồ minh khí (chôn cùng người chết). Trong đó, ấn tượng nhất phải kể đến những chiếc trống đồng, biểu tượng nền văn hóa Đông Sơn của người Việt cổ. Những chiếc trống đồng Đông Sơn chính là sản phẩm của nền văn minh nông nghiệp phát triển, thể hiện kỹ thuật luyện kim đồng thau bản địa, nền văn hóa đồng thau vào loại bậc nhất Đông Nam Á.

TT - ÐHQG TP.HCM công bố, trao giải và khai mạc triển lãm cuộc thi ảnh “Khoảnh khắc đô thị đại học” vào sáng 14-11 tại thư viện trung tâm ÐHQG TP.HCM, khu phố 6, P.Linh Trung, Q.Thủ Ðức, TP.HCM.
Theo ban tổ chức, cuộc thi ảnh “Khoảnh khắc đô thị đại học” là hoạt động chào mừng 20 năm ÐHQG TP.HCM xây dựng, phát triển và hội nhập nhằm ghi lại những khoảnh khắc thể hiện dấu ấn 20 năm xây dựng và phát triển của ÐHQG TP.HCM.

Of the 43 photographs of the Lubavitch community currently on display in the library’s main branch at Grand Army Plaza, that print of Rabbi Schneerson on Hanukkah most hints at the story behind the images, the story of Chabad Hasidim’s improbable portraitist.
When the photo was taken in 1988, Ms. Nishio had been visiting the Lubavitch movement’s home base in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, for only a few months. Ms. Nishio went on to photograph the community until the grand rabbi, known to followers as the rebbe, died in 1994. The library’s exhibit, which remains on display until February, provides an intimate and expansive view of the Lubavitchers.

Vietnam is one of the 22 high TB burden countries. The most recent survey in the country shows a prevalence of TB 1.6 times higher than previously estimated, indicating that a significant number of cases remain undiagnosed. Effective TB control does require early diagnosis and immediate initiation of treatment, but delays in diagnosis still represent one of the most difficult barriers in patients’ management. Furthermore, no data on children TB are available in Vietnam, meaning that the impact of the disease on children is not fully understood.

The Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Copenhagen, invites applications for a position as Associate Professor or Assistant Professor in Comparative Sociology with a special focus on Asia. The position is available from April 1st, 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The department will consider applications from candidates with different profiles within Comparative Sociology and different geographical specializations in the Asian region. Roberto Gómez Bolaños, a Mexican comic actor, writer and director familiar around the world for his characters El Chavo and El Chapulín Colorado, died on Friday in Cancún. He was 85.
Mr. Bolaños, an engineer by training, started writing at an advertising agency when he was 22. He soon tried his hand at radio, television and movie scripts. Success followed, and by the late 1950s he had begun contributing to the highest-rated television shows in Mexico. It was during that time that he earned his nickname, Chespirito, or Little Shakespeare, from Agustín P. Delgado, the television and film director.

The sick and disabled children of Vietnam lost a great champion on Nov. 2 -- an East Pembroke resident who worked tirelessly to help them. Kenneth J. Herrmann Jr. died that day at his home after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 71.
He was an associate professor in the Department of Social Work for the College at Brockport for 37 years. He was also a Vietnam veteran who earned a Bronze Star medal for service in the Army from 1968-1969.
The devastation of Vietnam and victims of the highly toxic chemical herbicide Agent Orange were at the core of his lifetime passion for social work, education and aiding children. He leaves behind the Brockport Vietnam Program, a global, service-learning, study-abroad program, for which he served as director. In addition, he leaves the Danang QuangNam Fund, Inc., (also known as Agent Orange Children), a nongovernmental organization that provides monetary support for direct aid efforts in Vietnam.

Kiên Giang tên thật là Trương Khương Trinh, sinh tại Xẻo Đước, làng Đông Thái, huyện An Biên, tỉnh Rạch Giá (bây giờ là Kiên Giang). Cái tên Kiên Giang trở nên quen thuộc trên thi đàn miền Nam từ năm 1955. Ngoài làm thơ, viết tuồng, soạn bài vọng cổ - ông còn là ký giả kịch trường của nhiều tờ báo ở Sài Gòn như: Tiếng Chuông, Tiếng Dội, Lẽ Sống, Lập Trường, Điện Tín... với bút danh Hà Huy Hà. Ông từng là Trưởng ban Mây Tần (chuyên mục thơ ca) trên Đài phát thanh Sài Gòn và đã bị bắt giam khi tham gia Ngày ký giả ăn mày để phản đối luật báo chí cải cách của chính quyền Sài Gòn (1974).
Nhắc đến nhà thơ Kiên Giang, nhiều người thuộc lứa trung niên ở miền Nam vẫn còn nhớ đến bài thơ Hoa trắng thôi cài trên áo tím do ông sáng tác năm 1958, sau đó nhạc sĩ Huỳnh Anh đã phổ nhạc bài thơ này.
Giới mê cải lương thì nhớ mãi những vở tuồng: Người vợ không bao giờ cưới (tức Sơn nữ Phà Ca) hay Áo cưới trước cổng chùa và hàng trăm bài vọng cổ khác do ông là soạn giả (dưới bút danh Hà Huy Hà). Chính nhờ đóng vai Sơn nữ Phà Ca mà cô đào trẻ Thanh Nga được trao giải Thanh Tâm năm 1958 và bước lên ngôi vị “Nữ hoàng sân khấu”.
