The United States ranked 41st in global press freedom by an international journalist advocacy group in an annual list released on Wednesday.
Reporters Without Borders claimed that, despite being enshrined in the Constitution, freedom of the press “has encountered a major obstacle” in the U.S. due to “the government’s war on whistleblowers.”
The ranking was actually an eight-spot improvement over 2015, when the U.S. came in 49th in the world.

Press freedom suffered throughout the world in 2015, declining to its weakest level in 12 years because of attacks and intimidation by political, criminal and militant forces that sought to mute or control the news media, a prominent democracy advocacy group said in an annualreport published Wednesday.

PGS.TS Phùng Xuân Nhạ sinh ngày 3/6/1963, tại Hưng Yên, là tiến sĩ kinh tế. Ông Nhạ nghiên cứu sau tiến sĩ (Fulbright) tại Đại học Tổng hợp Georgetown, Hoa Kỳ (2001-2002); được phong chức danh phó giáo sư năm 2005.
