Ở Việt Nam, những bảo tàng đầu tiên do người Pháp thành lập vào khoảng đầu thế kỷ 20 cũng gồm hai loại hình trên, đó là Bảo tàng Hải dương học (Nha Trang, khoảng 1910), Bảo tàng Địa chất (1914, Hà Nội), Bảo tàng Nghệ thuật Điêu khắc Chăm (Bảo tàng Henri Parmentier, 1918, Đà Nẵng), Bảo tàng Blanchard De la Brosse (1929, Sài Gòn), Bảo tàng L. Finot (1932, Hà Nội). Ngoài ra, Vườn Bách thảo Hà Nội và Thảo Cầm viên Sài Gòn cũng được coi là hai công viên - bảo tàng tự nhiên của Đông Dương lúc bấy giờ.

Conference Call for Papers and Panels“1967: The Search for Peace”

The Vietnam Center and Archive and the newly-created Institute for Peace & Conflict (IPAC) at Texas Tech University are pleased to announce a conference focused on the year 1967 and the search for peace in Vietnam. We hope and expect in this conference to approach the events of 1967 in the broadest possible manner by hosting presentations not only on the antiwar and peace movements at home and abroad, but also on efforts to end the conflict through international diplomacy as well as military and diplomatic means in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
Proposal submission deadline is January 15, 2017. Please submit a 250 word abstract and separate two-page CV/resume to 1967vietnamconference@gmail.com. The program committee of Justin Hart, Dave Lewis, Steve Maxner, Laura Calkins, and Ron Milam will evaluate all paper proposals and develop a program that reflects the many remarkable aspects of 1967. If submitting a panel proposal, please include separate abstracts for each proposed presentation and CVs/resumes for each speaker.

25th Colloquium of IGU – CSRS: Rural spaces in a multifunctional transition: experience and adaptation

This colloquium will be an occasion for participants to share experiences and research results on the field of rural development and to have a closer look on the specific case of Vietnam.

The colloquium will address the following five themes:(1) Rural economy, rural spaces and globalization; (2) Climate change impacts on rural system; (3) Landuse change and its impacts in rural areas; (4) Demographic transition in rural areas and its socio-cultural aspects; (5) Tourism and recreation.

Authors are invited to submit abstracts under the colloquium’s themes but are not limited to those given above. Abstracts of no more than 300 words in length should be sent by January 31st 2017, using the following format:

Abstracts will be sent for review and the abstract acceptance will be informed to authors within 7 days.
